Mediation Fee Scale for Court-Attached Mediation Services as required by The Ministry of the Attorney General

The hourly rate of court-attached mediation services is subsidized by the Ministry of the Attorney General. Each session is usually about 1.5 to 2 hours long. You are entitled to up to 7 hours of subsidized mediation in which you pay according to your income. For example, if you make $30,000 a year and support yourself and two children, you will pay $10 an hour. If you are a student or unemployed, you will pay $2 an hour. In some cases there is no cost to you.

1. The following is a sliding scale of fees depending on income and number of dependents.
2. If one partner is paying a fee, the other partner will pay at least a base fee of $5.00. (Or $2.00 if they are not working.)
3. "Dependents" include the adult, any children they are supporting or partially supporting, and any other persons for whom the client is financially responsible (eg. non-working spouse, parent). Children may be counted for both parents if both are supporting them.

Note: Upper limit of fee for one hour is $120.00 regardless of whether one or two clients contribute.
